Tea to Boost your Health

Tea to Boost your Health

With the Fall season upon us, we especially want to keep our immune systems strong. Staying healthy is not just about avoiding the flu, it should actually be priority for your life. Did you know that drinking a natural tea could help boost the health of your immune system?

Several months ago I wrote a blog called Herbs For Weight Loss. It talks about the properties of 10 herbs that can help with weight loss. However, there is WAY MORE VALUE in each of these herbs than weight loss.

For instance, my grandma has been battling Osteoarthritis for years. She’s undergone 2 back surgeries, 2 knee replacements and 1 shoulder replacement. I started making an herbal tea to help with inflammation and alleviate some of her pain.

She drinks at least one cup of this tea everyday. Although it wasn’t instantaneous, she’s had the following results:

  • She stopped having to take Arthritis Medication (which by the way gave her an ulcer)
  • She stopped having to take high blood pressure medication (which can lead to more meds over time)
  • It helps her with elimination
  • Yes, she also lost some weight

Have I peaked your interest?

I hope so! In no particular order, the following is a complete list of the herbs I use and their benefits. I’ve included a few links in case you would like to learn more about each as well as the recipe for the tea. I’m not telling you to throw out your medications and just start drinking this tea. But I can say, besides being tasty the tea does offer some great natural ways to boost your immune system, helping you in the good fight of health and wellness. * With that being said: If you are taking ANY Prescriptions meds PLEASE consult with your Dr to ensure these herbs will not have an adverse affect on you.*

TURMERIC

Most commonly associated with Indian food, turmeric has been shown to help reduce inflammation, it contains compounds with powerful medicinal properties. It increases the antioxidant capacity of the body, is linked to improve brain function and lowering the risk of heart disease.

CINNAMON

Helps to control your blood sugar and insulin levels, protecting you from diabetes while simultaneously managing your hunger.  Loaded with antioxidants and may improve heart health. Here’s another trick, it can also be used as a natural sweetener.

PEPPERMINT

Can decrease your appetite and help with sugar cravings. Smelling peppermint oil can help uplift you during that low point in the day. Try putting a few drops into your water.  It’s also great for headaches, tummy aches and it makes my banana chocolate smoothies taste AWESOME.

GREEN TEA

Green tea is well-proven to have a number of health benefits: such as immunity boosting, reducing cholesterol, stamina and endurance booster to name a few.  In addition to helping prevent cancer and diabetes.

GINGER

Fresh or powdered ginger may be able to help reduce your appetite and cut cravings.  Did you know ginger also helps increase blood circulation, lower cholesterol, and decrease inflammation in the body. It also adds a nice flavor to your meals.

ROSEMARY

Rosemary is thought to strengthen memory, stimulates hair growth as well as relieve pain. Wow, simply inhaling rosemary has been known to relieve stress. It promotes increased blood circulation, helps with liver and digestive health.

LEMON

How many of you clean with Lemon scented products? Why… because lemon is mood lifting. It also can help with nausea, prevent kidney stones, soothe a sore throat and help you breathe easier. It promotes healthy skin, has antifungal properties and fights bacteria. Oh, it’s great to polish stainless steel in your kitchen and clean stove tops of streaks.

Here is the recipe for a full Pitcher:

  • 1 Full pot of water
  • 5-6 Green Tea bags (depends on your desired strength)
  • Fresh Ginger Root slices (also depends on how much ginger you prefer) You can also grate it if you like
  • If using Fresh Lemon – Squeeze 1 half of large lemon or entire small.
  • If using Lemon drops – 10 drops
  • 3 fresh Rosemary Sticks
  • 1 Teaspoon of Turmeric. (stir this in with a whisk)
  • 6 small Cinnamon sticks or 3 large
  • Peppermint is optional (fresh leaves or oil)

Put all the ingredients into your pot and let simmer on the stove for about 40 – 50 min without a top. Add any sweetener if you like. (I prefer Raw Sugar) Let it cool down some, pour into your pitcher, store in the fridge and serve hot or cold.

Please leave me some comments and let me know if you tried it.
